By heading straight to the main sights, we practically had them to ourselves, eluding the crowds and getting the photographs we wanted. In a small square lying below street-level is the imposing two-story facade of the Library of Celsus, with its rather crowded columns and prominent cornices, which were re-erected in the 1970s by Austrian archaeologists.
