Bobcats can take down animals several times their size.

The bobcat hunts by stealth, but delivers a deathblow with a leaping pounce that can cover 10 feet. The tail may have one to several indistinct dark bands and a tip that is black on top and whitish below.

A male bobcat's territory will often overlap several females as well as another male or two. Appearance: a bit larger than a large domestic cat in size; average adult length is 25 to 30 inches (tail is about 6 inches); weight 15-20 pounds; reddish or yellowish brown streaked and spotted with black. Adult males typically weigh between 18 and 35 pounds and measure from 32 to 37 inches in length.

Adult females typically weigh between 15 and 30 pounds and measure from 28 to 32 inches in length. A typical female will have a territory size of about 6 square miles, whereas a male's territory might be as large as 60 square miles.
